Né au Bouthan en 1948, Lama Karma Gyourmé manifeste très tôt d’exceptionnelles qualités et une forte attirance pour la vie monastique. A l’âge de 4 ans il est confié par sa famille au monastère de Djang Tchoub Tcheu Ling (Bouthan) où se révèle rapidement son inclination pour la musique sacrée. Il devient résidant permanent du monastère dans sa neuvième année et y reçoit une éducation religieuse complète (textes sacrés, écritures), s’initiant également aux arts traditionnels, dont la musique.
Il effectue sa première retraite de trois ans, trois mois, trois jours (passage obligé de la vie lamaïque) au monastère de Sonada en Inde. Il a alors vingt ans et c’est au cours de cette retraite qu’il est nommé « Oumze » - Chef de musique – par le très vénérable Kalu Rinpoche. Après un séjour au monastère de Rumtek (Sikkim), il va parfaire son éducation religieuse au Bouthan et y recevoir de nombreuses initiations avant d’obtenir son diplôme d’enseignant de la tradition Kagyupa qui lui est remis par Sa Sainteté le 16ème Karmapa.
Installé en France depuis 1974, il dirige le centre Kagyupa de Paris (Kagyu Dzong) et, depuis 1982, le centre de Vajradhara Ling en Normandie.
 

Born in Bhutan in 1948, Lama Gyurme exhibited very early exceptional qualities and a strong attraction for the monastic life. At the age of four, he was entrusted by his family to the monastery of Djang Tchub Tcheu Ling (Bhutan) where his inclination for sacred music was rapidly revealed. He became a permanent resident of the monastery at the age of nine and received a complete religious education (sacred texts, writing), and an initiation into the traditional arts, such as music.
He made his first three-year, three-month, three-day retreat (a stage required on the lamaïc path) at the monastery of Sonada in India. He was then twenty and it is during this retreat that he was named « Oumze » - Master of music – by the most Venerable Kalu Rinpoche. After a stay at the monastery of Rumtek (Sikkim), he went on to perfect his religious education in Bhutan and received numerous initiation before receiving his degree as a teacher of the Kagyupa tradition which was conferred by His Holiness the Sixteenth Karmapa.
In France since 1974, he is in charge of the Kagyupa center in Paris (Kagyu Dzong) and, since 1982, the Vajradhara Ling center in Normandy
